CLEVELAND _ The Browns are done giving wide receiver Antonio Callaway opportunities to become reliable.
On Thursday afternoon, the team announced it waived Callaway and activated rookie guard Drew Forbes (knee) from injured reserve.
Browns general manager John Dorsey drafted Callaway in the fourth round (105th overall) last year despite the off-field red flags in the player's background.
But the franchise grew tired of Callaway's behavior.
The NFL suspended him for the first four games this season for violating its substance-abuse policy.
Then Browns coach Freddie Kitchens made Callaway inactive for Sunday's 19-16 win over the Buffalo Bills because Callaway arrived late to FirstEnergy Stadium the morning of the game. The Browns were not satisfied with Callaway's response to the punishment and decided to cut ties with him.
Callaway, 22, appeared in four games this season with two starts and caught eight passes for 89 yards. Last season, he started 11 of the 16 games in which he appeared and compiled 43 catches for 586 yards and five touchdowns.
