Browns cut 3 players to get back to 53-man roster after waiver claims

The Cleveland Browns initial 53-man roster for Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans is now set.

GM John Dorsey and the Browns claimed three players off waivers from other teams:

  • TE Ricky Seals-Jones, Cardinals
  • LB Malik Jefferson, Bengals
  • WR KhaDarel Hodge, Rams

Those additions on Sunday brought the roster up to 56. Unfortunately, that meant three players who survived the Browns initial cuts on Saturday got some bad news.

Veteran DT Trevon Coley and safety Juston Burris were both released to make room for the newcomers. The Browns also released Greg Robinson, the starting left tackle, but he is expected to quickly re-sign with the team.

In addition, the Browns will place rookie OL Drew Forbes on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered in the final preseason game.
