Browns claim LB Tae Davis off waivers to fill out the roster for Week 9

After trading away little-used DE Genard Avery, the Browns had a roster spot to fill. Many expected it to come via trade at Tuesday’s deadline, but GM John Dorsey was unable to find a partner to dance with.

Instead, the Browns have added linebacker Tae Davis to get back to the 53-man roster limit. Cleveland successfully claimed Davis off waivers from the New York Giants.

Davis is in his second season out of Chattanooga. He earned the starting ILB spot for Week 1 with the Giants this year after a decent showing in 2018 as an undrafted rookie. He missed two games with a concussion and lost his role in the process.
