Browns become 1st team to sign all of its 2020 draft class

When Grant Delpit signed on the dotted line with Cleveland on Wednesday, the Browns became the first of the NFL’s 32 teams to sign every single member of its draft class of 2020.

Delpit, the team’s second-round pick from LSU, was the last of the seven picks made back in April’s draft. First-round pick Jedrick Wills signed one week earlier.

With rookie salaries and contracts largely inflexible since the changes to the rookie wage scale, there really isn’t much room for negotiation or agent obstinance into the process. The players know what they’re getting based on their draft slots and it removes much of the drama that used to exist.

Even so, it’s nice to see the new Browns regime under GM Andrew Berry getting the work done quickly. The less uncertainty, the better in the current COVID-19 climate.
