Browns are 2nd-most popular bet to win the Super Bowl

For a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in well over a decade, the 2019 Cleveland Browns are a trendy and popular pick to make big things happen in the NFL this season. Based on the early returns from Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, the expectations for the new-look Browns appears sky high.

The Browns have the second-most wagers to win Super Bowl LIV next February, according to the tally from Caesar’s Palace. Only the Chicago Bears have seen more positive action, and the Bears are coming off a division title.

The Browns, of course, haven’t posted a winning record since 2007. But with a dynamic young core featuring Baker Mayfield, Myles Garrett, Nick Chubb and Denzel Ward being joined by impact playmakers Odell Beckham Jr., Sheldon Richardson and Olivier Vernon, the betting public has serious confidence in what GM John Dorsey and head coach Freddie Kitchens have done with the Browns.

It is interesting that the defending champion Patriots do not appear in the top five, nor does the team they beat in February, the Rams. The “what have you done for me lately” mentality doesn’t seem to matter much for bettors…to the benefit of the Browns.
