Browns all over the top 8 rankings in latest NFL power polls

The weekly updates to various NFL power polls feature the Cleveland Browns as a unanimous top eight overall team entering Week 4. But there’s quite a bit of variety in where the Browns land within that top quarter of the league.

At Touchdown Wire, the Browns stayed stable in the top five with their impressive win. Cleveland kept the No. 5 spot in part because the teams above them, notably the Green Bay Packers at No. 4, beat better opponents than the Browns faced in Week 3.

Over at USA TODAY, the Browns now sit third overall. They are the highest-rated team in the AFC, one spot above the unbeaten Las Vegas Raiders.

The dominating win over Chicago was enough to move the Browns up to No. 3 at The Sporting News, up a tick from the fourth spot a week ago. And the commentary hints at even higher potential,

The Browns’ defense needed that game against the Bears to flex a little to support the offense that keeps getting it done in different ways around Baker Mayfield. They are the early best team in the AFC with the Chiefs, to whom they barely lost in Week 1, stubbing their toes.

Cleveland also moved up in ESPN’s update, but it’s from No. 8 to sixth in the latest poll. The Browns are one spot below the unbeaten Raiders here.

The crushing of Chicago didn’t do anything for the pollsters at NFL.com. The Browns remain at No. 8 for another week, behind the Chiefs and Ravens, among others.
