Browns all over the middle of the map in latest NFL power polls

Sitting at 1-1 after a crushing home defeat and a dominant road win, it’s tough to feel strongly one way or another about these Cleveland Browns. And that ambivalence is reflected in the latest post-Week 2 power polls.

USA TODAY moved the Browns up to No. 17 after a precipitous drop to No. 22 after Week 1. Myles Garrett’s three-sack performance on Monday Night Football was a big part of that jump.

Monday night a reminder that, despite the offensive hype around this team, DE Myles Garrett (NFL-high 5 sacks) is best player on roster.

Over at Touchdown Wire, Doug Farrar placed the Browns at No. 20, the same spot as last week. His focus was on the ongoing struggles of QB Baker Mayfield, who has not played as well as hoped in the first two games.

At NFL.com, the Browns win lifted them back into the top half of the rankings. Freddie Kitchens’ team sits at No. 15, up six spots from Week 1.

The reaction was different at ESPN. Despite the win, the Browns fell from No. 17 to No. 19. Even though Cleveland fell, the commentary is nothing but positives focused on the much-improved (through two weeks) special teams.
