Browns aiming to reverse history in the series vs. the Broncos

Two struggling familiar foes will be facing off on Sunday. The 2-6 Denver Broncos will host the 2-5 Cleveland Browns in the Mile High City. History runs deep between the two teams.

Both were a part of two horrible memories for the Cleveland fans. The Drive in the 1986 AFC Championship game and the Fumble in 1987 AFC Championship live in infamy. For a lot of the older generational Browns fans, it’s a history that brings a lot of pain and nightmares. But last year, the Browns faced the Broncos and won 17-16 with rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield.

The Broncos have notoriously owned the Browns over the years. Overall, they are 23-6 against the Browns. Since the Browns returned to the NFL in 1999, last year’s victory was the Browns only win over the Broncos. They went into that game 0-7. During that span, the Broncos outscored the Browns 205-108.

For the Browns, the easier part of their schedule begins. For the majority of the season, the Browns have beaten themselves more than anything. They’ll have a chance to turn around their season in a must-win situation against the Broncos. Struggling Baker Mayfield will look get going as he and his talented, yet moving in quicksand offense will go up against the Denver Broncos top-five defense.

The Broncos will be starting Brandon Allen at quarterback today as Joe Flacco went on the Injury Reserve with a neck injury. Allen has never attempted a pass in a regular-season game before. While he shows signs of promise during the preseason before. Allen will going up against a real NFL defense with real game-plan schemes. For Denver, relying on their stud running backs is a must. The Browns rank 29th against the run this season. Relying on Phillip Lindsey and Royce Freeman is easily the best way the Denver Broncos could stay in this game.

Kickoff is at 4:25 pm on CBS. The Browns are 4-point favorites over the Broncos.
