Sprint star Rohan Browning has claimed third spot in the men's 100m at the golden grand prix meet in Tokyo in his first competitive run in three months.

Fully fit again after missing last month's Australian titles due to a hamstring complaint, Browning clocked 10.23 seconds at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.

American Christian Coleman took the win in 10.09 and Jake Doran - who succeeded Browning as the Australian 100m champion last month - was sixth in the final in 10.32.

It was Browning's first meet back in the Japanese capital since he went within a whisker of becoming just the second Australian to break the 10-second barrier when he clocked 10.01 at last year's Tokyo Olympics.

The only Australian winner at the golden grand prix meet on Sunday was Georgia Griffith, who took the women's 1500m in 4:06.04, just ahead of American Eleanor Fulton (4:06.35).

Compatriots Jacinta Beecher, Nick Hough, Henry Frayne and Kelsey-Lee Barber also claimed podium finishes.

Five days after smashing her personal best and booking her spot on the Australian team for the world championships and Commonwealth Games with a sizzling 200m time of 22.70 in Shizuoka, Beecher was second in the half-lap race in 23.24. American Lynna Irby won in 23.09.

Hough (13.49) tied for second in the 110m hurdles with Taiwan's Chen Kuei-Ru, while Frayne was third in the men's long jump with 7.93m.

Reigning world champion and Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Barber (61.00m) was third in a women's javelin won by local star Haruka Kitaguchi (63.93m).
