Nathan Brown will spearhead a review into Parramatta's Elite Pathways program in his first formal football role since being sacked as coach of the Warriors earlier this season.

The Eels are hoping Brown can help to source and develop elite local talent to increase the number of Parramatta juniors in the side's top-30 squad.

Only eight members of the Eels' 17 that lost to Brisbane last weekend were Eels juniors and only five of the starting team made their NRL debuts at the club.

"Nathan has a wealth of experience both as an NRL player and head coach at every level within the game," said Parramatta's general manager of football Mark O'Neill.

"Importantly, Nathan has been exposed to many pathways programs and is highly passionate about this space.

"Through his involvement, Nathan will be able to give us an informed view of where our programs are at and what opportunities there will be to make improvements in line with best practice."

Brown previously said he had no interest in returning to NRL head coaching but hoped to continue working within clubs in a football capacity.
