Brown bin collections will return to regular schedule in Bury.
Bury Council previously suspended collections then offered one-off services due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Today the authority announced that due to an increase in staff, the collections will now resume as normal.
In an email sent to residents, Bury Council said: “Due to the coronavirus outbreak there is some ongoing disruption to bin collections but please bear with us, we are doing everything we can to maintain the service.
“Currently blue, green and grey collections are taking place to schedule.
“Brown bin collections were suspended for one cycle during March in order to focus on collecting your other bins before carrying out one-off brown bin collections last week and this.
“Because currently our collection crew numbers are holding-up and other council employees have been trained-up to help bolster the service, we plan to continue with regular scheduled collections of brown bins.
“This means you should not put food waste in your grey bin as we previously asked you to.
“Please continue to recycle your food waste and your garden waste in your brown bin, and note the following.
• We will send you a reminder for your brown bin collection the day before it is due
• Food waste can go loose inside your brown bin if you run out of compostable liners
• Your bin lid must be fully closed
• Don’t leave out any extra bags of waste please
“If the situation with our bin crew changes and we have to make changes to any of your scheduled collections we will update you by email.”
