Broughton Road to remain closed until Thursday due to sink hole which appeared at weekend

Broughton Road in Edinburgh will remain closed until Thursday due to the sink hole which opened up on the route earlier this week.

The alarming discovery was made at the weekend with the route being shut off to traffic between East Claremont Street and Logie Green Road.

The City of Edinburgh Council have been working to examine the extent of the damage and investigate the cause of the sink hole.

Repairs have been ongoing in the last two days, and the council-run social media page Edinburgh Travel News tonight shared an update on the ongoing works.

They tweeted: "Broughton Road repairs continue following carriageway damage reported over the weekend. The road will remain closed in both directions between East Claremont Street and Beaverhall Road until Thursday 8 August."
