Broughshane sledgehammer attack leaves man with ankle and face injuries

A man in his 20s has sustained injuries to his ankle and face after being assaulted with sledgehammers in Broughshane this morning.

Police say they received a report at around 2.10am that a short time earlier two males had forced their way into a property in Rocavan Meadows.

Detective Sergeant Lyttle said the attack was "sustained and brutal".

He added: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish what occurred and a motive for the attack.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area last night and saw what occurred, or has information which may assist our investigation.

“If you can help us, please call detectives on 101, and quote reference number 218 of 28/06/20.

“You can also submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via  http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.

" Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
