Brough manufacturer Purex secures Barclays funding to boost growth

Industrial fume extraction firm Purex has secured funding from Barclays as its impressive growth continues.

The business, which has a facility in Brough, East Yorkshire, first launched in 2004, and today has offices in the UK and the States.

Specialising in fume extraction systems which take harmful dust and solvents out of the air, Purex has now been backed by Barclays.

The new funding will allow Purex to move manufacturing of its fume extraction cabinets solely to the UK, improving both the quality and supply of the products.

Trefor Jones, finance director at Purex International, said: “We’ve been growing organically since we started out in 2004 and have worked alongside Barclays for many years.

“This new funding deal has enabled us to transfer the manufacture of the fume extraction cabinets entirely to the UK meaning faster end to end service for our customers and better control over quality and supply.

“Barclays have been a strategic partner to our business who continue to support our exciting growth plans.”

Purex International employs over 50 people locally, with turnover in 2019 expected to pass £12m.

The company was formed in 2004 and quickly gained a track-record of providing good service and cemented themselves as an expert in the fume extraction field.

Purex International operates a significant new facility at the Humber Enterprise Park, sharing the site with leading businesses including BAE.

Chris Rushworth, relationship director at Barclays, put together the funding for Purex.

He said: “Purex International is a great example of a thriving business that is expanding for the future and contributing to the local economy.

“The new funding has enabled the company to invest in the plant and machinery it needs to support their growth ambitions.

“The future economic success of our country will be driven by people and businesses in places like Brough so I am delighted we are able to support our client in this way.”

Purex created 17 new jobs when it opened its facility in Brough in 2018.

With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Purex is now set to undergo the next phase of its growth.

Harmful fumes created during industrial processes include solder fume, welding fume, solvents and respirable dust.

Purex’s products help remove these harmful fumes, which can be hazardous to health if inhaled.
