Brothers film dad dying from cancer after he makes decision to end chemotherapy

Two brothers are filming their father dying of cancer in a bid to help other families going through the same thing.

Marcus and Robin Brooker want their documentary about their dad John to break the taboos surrounding the disease.

John, 74, was diagnosed back in 2004 but has decided to stop having chemotherapy as it was making him feel too unwell.

He has been filming with his sons since June 2018 and has no plans to stop.

John said: "You have to live for the day, you have to do things, you’ve got to get up in the morning and be positive in what you do.

"I'm really one of the lucky ones.

"To have a prognosis in 2004 that my lifespan was going to be very limited, and to say we are still around in 2019, I find quite incredible."

The brothers, from near Sudbury in Suffolk, hope their documentary will break the taboos surrounding the disease and encourage people to talk about it.

Marcus said: "We were aware we'd seen many things about cancer, how to deal with cancer, treatments, but we had never really seen a documentary that was so intimate and followed a story with someone from beginning to end."
