Brothers aged 9 and 6 who vanished after being dropped off at school found safe and well

A major search has been called off after two young brothers who vanished after being dropped off at school were found.

Michael and James O'Brien, aged 9 and 6 respectively, were dropped off for class in Rosewell at around 8am this morning.

The two boys failed to enter the school, leading to a major search operation being launched.

Police officers and dog units were searching the Midlothian town before the two brothers were found.

They are said to be safe and well.

A spokesperson for Midlothian Police said: “We are pleased to report Michael and Jamie O’Brien, missing from Rosewell this morning, have been traced safe and well.

“We would like to thank members of the public and our partners who shared information and assisted us with inquiries.”
