Brother's moving tribute to 'one of a kind' teenager who fell to his death from bridge

The brother of a teenager who died after falling from a bridge today described him as "one of a kind."

Daniel Fleming, 19, suffered fatal injuries at the scene on Oakdale Road in Wallasey, just after 7am on Monday.

His grieving brother Tom Fleming said: "My little brother, I love you the world!

"This feels like it’s all fake and that I’m telling you to get up and to stop messing me around.

"Couldn’t have asked for a better brother, I’m so proud of you Daniel!

"You were so clever and helped me out a lot!

"You’re one of a kind, my mate!

"You’ll be truly missed by our family and friends!

"Too young for all this, Dan.

"I should be able to grow up with you and be playing with my little nephews as we grow old together.

"It isn't half killing me writing this, but just wanna tell you that I love you so much and nothing will ever change that!"

The incident meant the Wallasey Tunnel was closed for several hours, and motorists were advised to use the Birkenhead Tunnel instead.

Merseyside Police and the city coroner are jointly investigating the tragedy.

The death has been referred for an inquest, but that will not open until later this week.

Daniel was treated at the scene and then taken to hospital with "serious injuries".

Sadly, he was soon pronounced dead.

Tom Kinder, who knew Daniel, added: "I worked with him, it was an honour to know him for the time I did, he was an amazing person.

"He will be majorly[sic] missed by us all that knew him I truly wish he knew how much he meant to us all."

Another relative, Janina Fleming, said: "We love you so much Tom ...we cant believe it today.

"Our hearts are breaking too.

"Dan is such an important part of our lives.

"Hope to see you and Honey soon and you can get into our arms.

"We love you all just so much."

Leanne McCabe said: "Still in disbelief, such a lovely boy.

"Going to miss seeing you when in and out of nextdoor shop.

"RIP."
