Brother pays tribute to DJ killed in hit-and-run collision

The family of a cyclist killed in a hit-and-run told today of their devastation as police appealed for witnesses.

Jay Kristiansen, 31, was struck by a car at the corner of Romford Road and Crosby Road in Forest Gate in the early hours of Friday.

Police were called shortly after 3.19am and he was taken to hospital but died on Saturday.

A man in his twenties was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and causing death by dangerous driving, and was released on bail.

Mr Kristiansen was brought up in Dagenham but had been living near Stratford.

Brother Patrick, 34, said: “Jay was a nice guy and loved by us all. He had a deep voice, a big smile and liked a giggle. He will be so missed.”

He said his brother had been successful on the DJ circuit and was well respected.

Witnesses should call police on 020 8597 4874, quoting ref 961/24Jul.
