The brother of Jennie Poole who died in a horrific stabbing on Saturday has shared an emotional tribute to his "baby sister" with "a heart of gold".
The 24-year-old healthcare worker was brutally stabbed to death at her apartment in Melville Drive at around 2 pm on Saturday.
The mum-of-two was rushed by ambulance to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown but pronounced dead a short time later.
In a heartbreaking social media post, brother Jason said he was "broken and numb" after losing his "baby sister in the most violent way".
He said: "I can’t believe I’m writing this. Saturday I lost my baby sister in the most violent way. Jennie had a heart of gold she would do anything for anyone. Her smile would light up any room which was lucky to have her presence.
"She was the best mother to her beautiful two children and a sister who always had your back. I’m broken and numb words can’t explain how I feel. Nobody should have to go through what my little sister went through. I am lost for words."
Jason went on to thank the Finglas community and the local gardai for their support through the horrific ordeal.
"I want to thank everyone who has visited our home, sent flowers, texts and calls over the last 24 hours. I want to tshank the community of Finglas for everything that has been done already for my little sister.
"I want to thank the guards in Finglas and Cabra stations for all they have done for us in the last 24 hours."
He added: "Jennie, I miss you so so much, yesterday was the hardest day of my life. Having to see what I seen is not what a big brother should have to see.
"Your two beautiful babies will always remember you and you will always be in our conversations.
"Sleep tight Jennie love you so so much."
A man in his 20s was arrested a short time after the attack and he has since been charged.
He will appear before Blanchardstown District Court in Dublin, this morning, Monday 19th April 2021 at 10:30 am.
Jennie lived with her children, a son aged four and seven-year-old daughter, on the first floor of a duplex building. It is understood her son was in the flat at the time of the attack.
Tributes have been paid to the tragic Finglas woman as a steady stream of tearful mourners left flowers and messages outside her home yesterday.
Jennie’s workmate Camilla told reporters: “She was a lovely girl, she was a great mother and a hard worker.
“We all loved her, we were a team. The way she spoke to people and took care of them, she was a lovely person.
“We are shocked, she was a great mother, a really really nice person.
“The care that she was providing for the residents, everybody loved her.”
A GoFundMe page set up to help with the cost of Jennie’s funeral and to support her children had by last night raised around €40,000.
Jennie Varszegi, who organised the fundraiser, said: “On April 17, Jennie was tragically and suddenly taken from the world, leaving behind her mam, dad, brothers, sister, family and her two precious babies.
“Jennie was a fun, loving, happy and hard-working 24-year-old mother who lived for her babies.
“We are fundraising for the sudden cost of her funeral and anything extra will go to supporting her babies.
“The news of the tragic passing of Jennie was a major shock to our community and we hope everyone can pull together to show the support and how much she was loved and try to ease this burden on the family.”
