Brother of Tottenham star Serge Aurier dies in Toulouse

The brother of Tottenham football player Serge Aurier has died, the club has confirmed.

Tottenham has released a statement confirming that the player's brother died in the early hours of this morning.

The statement reads: “The club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning.

“We are supporting Serge at this difficult time and we ask that the privacy of the player and his family is respected.

“Everybody at the club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all.”

The club also posted a photo of the player to social media with the caption "We are with you".

Reports that Aurier’s brother's body had been found in Toulouse first surfaced in the early hours of Monday.

On Sunday, Aurier, who signed for the club in August 2017, played the full 90 minutes during Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Arsenal.

The win lifted Spurs above their north London rivals.
