Brother of teen who drowned on Dublin beach launches fundraiser for funeral costs

The brother of a teenager who tragically died after getting into difficulty on a Dublin beach has launched a fundraiser for his funeral costs.

Bradley Lulendo, 14, from Richmond Road in Dublin, was swimming in the sea on Monday with a young pal at Burrow Beach - known locally as ‘Hole in the Wall’ beach on the Howth peninsula.

It is understood he got into difficulty at around 7.30pm and the alarm was raised. Lifeguards on duty at the station went to his assistance. Howth Inshore lifeboat was also tasked with the rescue operation along with Howth Coastguard Shore team.

Bradley was brought ashore in the lifeboat and later airlifted to Beamount Hospital onboard Rescue 116. He was later transferred to CHI Temple Street where he later passed away from his injuries.

Pasias Lulendo, Bradley's big brother, created a GoFundMe yesterday for the teenager's funeral costs and has already raised over €7,000.

He wrote on the GoFundMe: "Bradley Lulendo, 14 years old, was swimming in the sea with a friend at Burrow Beach.

"It is understood he got into difficulty at around 7.30pm and the alarm was raised. Bradley sadly passed away on the 11th July 2022.

"My name is Pasias Lulendo and I am Bradley’s big brother. I am raining funds for the funeral to help my family during this devastating time. We would appreciate any help we can get."

Bradley's funeral details are yet to be confirmed.
