SACRAMENTO, Calif. _ Stevante Clark, the older brother of Stephon Clark, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of threatening to cause death or serious injury, as well as calling 911 to annoy or harass, according to Sacramento County jail booking information.
Clark, 25, was arrested by Sacramento police and booked early Thursday afternoon, according to the booking information. He is ineligible for bail.
Sacramento Police Department spokeswoman Linda Matthew confirmed the arrest, but said she could not immediately provide details. The department is expected to issue a statement later Thursday, she said.
Sonia Lewis, a relative of Clark and member of Black Lives Matter Sacramento, said she was alerting family members of his arrest Thursday afternoon.
While she did not know what led to his arrest, Lewis said she was concerned that Clark was jailed instead of being taken to get mental health help.
Clark received inpatient mental health treatment earlier this month after police responded to a 911 call about a disturbance in North Sacramento, saying it was difficult to cope with his brother's death given the intense media and public attention following the police shooting.
"At this point, it's a processing of his grief as well as continued mental health issues that he's not addressing," Lewis said.
Clark is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
