John Hutch is fighting for his life in hospital after falling down the stairs of his house.
John, who is the brother of Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch, was unresponsive when emergency services arrived at his home yesterday evening.
It is understood that CPR was attempted at the scene in the Drumalee area of north inner city Dublin.
John, who has no involvement in crime, was rushed to the Mater Hospital with what are described as serious injuries at 4.15pm on Tuesday.
Gardai are investigating the incident.
A Garda spokeswoman said: "Gardai and emergency services attended an incident at a house in the Drumalee area off North Circular Rd, Dublin 7, 16 July 2019 at approximately 4.15pm.
"A man was taken to the Mater Hospital with serious injuries.
"Investigations are ongoing."
