Brother and sister both battle cancer - which claimed dad's life 14 years ago

Two siblings are battling cancer only 14 years after the disease claimed their young dad's life.

Akeel, 23, and his sister Sabrina, 21, live with their brother Ibrahim and their mother in a small house in Winson Green, Birmingham.

Sabrina was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer in 2017, she received treatment but has relapsed again.

Akeel has also recently been diagnosed with cancer.

Their father Mansoor Ahmed died from cancer in 2006, aged just 32.

University student Ibrahim Mansoor, 19, has now started fundraising to raise money for his siblings, Birmingham Live reports.

Ibrahim said: "My sister Sabrina was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer back in 2017.

"She received treatment and even flew out to Florida to try special proton therapy but she has relapsed again.

"My brother Akeel has also recently been diagnosed with cancer too.

"They are so young and it is a desperate situation as my father died of cancer back in 2006. He was only 32.

"It has put a tremendous strain on all of the family especially my mother.

"She has been through so much with my father passing away and now two of her children are battling cancer.

"My mum did such an amazing job with us. All her life she has been doing everything for us, taking care of us and making us feel the same as all of the other kids who had a father growing up.

"She is both our mother and father. But now she feels broken as two of her children are now battling cancer.

"We all still live at home and my brother is the main bread winner so we have been struggling financially.

"We live in a small house. We only have one bathroom downstairs so my sister has to sleep in the living room in a hospital bed. She hasn't got much control with her one leg due to the cancer and can't put any pressure on her foot.

"She has to use crutches and uses a wheelchair to get around.

"Both my sister and brother are wonderful people and they have always looked after me. Now I would like to try and do something to help the family."

Ibrahim his family would ideally like to move house so his sister could have a home specially adapted for her needs.

He added: "People have been so kind to us. My father was very popular in the community and people remember this. They have been very generous."

So far, he has raised more than £16,000 through the GoFundMe page.
