Brother, 3, and sister, 4, found dead in car ‘after dad left them inside for five hours’

Two children have died after they were left in their dad's truck for five hours in 32C heat.

Teagan, 4, and her little brother Ryan Dennis, 3, were found in the footwell of their dad's truck in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Saturday.

Their dad, Dustin Lee Dennis, had allegedly driven to QuikTrip with his children around midday and then returned home before falling asleep for four to five hours.

When he woke up, he claims he couldn't find his children, according to an arrest report.

He eventually found them in the floorboard of the truck and then moved them to the living room where paramedics pronounced the children dead.

The 31-year-old was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of second-degree murder, according to the report.

The cause of the children’s death has not yet been released.

The arrest report added: “The children had not been checked on for nearly five hours during the time they were locked inside the vehicle."

According to a neighbour who has footage of Dennis, he had locked his truck and went inside without getting the children out, police said.

Temperatures in Tulsa reached highs of 32C on Saturday.

Children can suffer symptoms of heatstroke within minutes of being trapped in a hot car as the temperature inside rises rapidly.

Dennis is currently being held in Tulsa County jail on a $1million bond.
