Matt Goss had his Tinder account reported over fears he was an imposter.
The Bros singer, who rose to fame in the 1980s with his brother Luke, was accused of "catfishing" in the guise of the pop idol by dating app users.
Tinder users could not believe that they were messaging the real singer and raised their fears using the app's reporting feature.
"I got reported because they thought it was fake,” Goss told the Daily Mirror.
"They said, 'Matt won't take kindly to you using his photos'. It was quite funny."
The star revealed that he no longer needs to use the dating app as he is now “excited” to be “seeing someone new.”
The singer, who recently celebrated 10 years of his Las Vegas residency at the Mirage, told the publication that he dreams of performing at Glastonbury Festival.
“It would be a dream come true for Bros to smash it at Glastonbury,” he said. “It would be an honour.”
The 80s duo have experienced a resurgence in popularity after documentary Bros: After The Screaming Stops was released last year.
The film followed the brothers as they prepared for a reunion gig at London’s O2 Arena, 27 years on from their last performance at Wembley Stadium.
It quickly gained cult appeal thanks to memorable one-liners including Matt’s assertion that health and safety fear over games of conkers is “the biggest problem” in England and his belief that “CNN is the thinking man’s reality show.”
It was nominated for best specialist factual programme at the BAFTA TV Awards in May but lost out to Suffragettes with Lucy Worsley.
