Broome's Cable Beach closed for second time in days after irukandji jellyfish sting

Lifesavers closed Broome's Cable Beach after another irukandji jellyfish sting.

Lifeguards have closed Cable Beach in Broome after a woman was stung by an irukandji jellyfish this morning.

The woman is in hospital in a stable condition.

It comes just days after a woman was stung by an irukandji jellyfish at the same beach and took herself to Broome Hospital.

Earlier this month a 14-year-old girl was stung near Goodwin Island off WA's Pilbara coast and had to be placed in an induced coma for days before she recovered.

Although small in size, the jellyfish deliver a painful and potentially fatal sting, although there have only been two deaths recorded from irukandji jellyfish stings.

Cable Beach will remain closed until further notice.
