Brookside star floors Loose Women fans as she reveals she's turned 50

Loose Women fans were blown away when it was revealed Claire Sweeney had turned 50 on today's show.

The Brookside star joined panellists Charlene White, Linda Robson, Judi Love and Jane Moore for a catch-up about how she made adjustments to her work/life balance as a single parent during the pandemic.

The Walton born actress, who shot to fame for her portrayal of Lindsey Corkhill on the Liverpool based soap, dialled in for a video call - and Linda was immediately wowed by her appearance.

She said: "You're looking gorgeous. Turning 50, but you're turning back the years. Honestly, you look fantastic."

Host Charlene added: "It just looks like you haven't even aged at all Claire. I mean, you just look absolutely fabulous."

Claire admitted she felt nervous in the run up to turning 50 as she was concerned how it could affect her career.

The former Loose Women panellist said: "We're in an industry that's quite ageist.

She continued: "To me it just sounded so old. I ended up just embracing it and, having had a wobble leading up to it, once I turned 50 it's the best I've felt in years."

And fans took to Twitter to agree with the Loose Women panel about how good Claire looked.

The scouse star also took fans down memory lane as she revealed what her favourite moment was from filming Brookside.

She said: "Snogging Barry Grant. I'd been a fan of the show for years and next thing I'm snogging him. I was pinching myself.

"In my eyes, it was like filming a love scene with George Clooney. I was thrilled."
