Brooks Koepka has a perfectly good explanation for texting snafu with Tiger Woods

One of the better stories ahead of the 2019 Open Championship was Tiger Woods telling the media that he texted Brooks Koepka to get in on a practice round with “Brooksie” ahead of the major at Royal Portrush.

The punchline was he heard “nothing” back from the world No. 1 and we — along with many others — surmised that Koepka was holding off from practicing with Woods because his caddie played Portrush a ton growing up.

It turns out that’s not the case.

Koepka told Sky Sports that he changed his phone number after someone leaked it at the U.S. Open. Here’s more:

“I changed it at the US Open when somebody leaked it. I got about 40 text messages so I changed it Monday night and I didn’t let many people know. We don’t text that often so I didn’t get any of the text messages. But I texted him on Wednesday from the new number and he texted me back. Don’t worry, we’re good.”

Nope. No ghosting here.
