Brooks Koepka brilliantly broke down how he quickly developed his winning mindset

Brooks Koepka has been on a tear lately, having won four majors and finishing second in the last two, including at the U.S. Open last weekend.

His quick rise to golf domination has been beyond impressive and he’s starting to show us a little more about who he is as a person and a golfer.

On Wednesday he broke down how his mindset has developed into such a winning one over the past few years and it’s pretty fascinating:

“It’s funny how when I first turned pro, you know, ‘Ok I want to make the cut.’ And then I always found myself right around the cut line. And then it was I got out here on the PGA Tour and it was kind of the same thing. It went back to, ‘Ok, I’m just trying to make the cut my first couple events. And then you find yourself right around that cut – 35th mark – and then all of the sudden it was, ‘Ok, I want to get in the top 10. And then all of the sudden I was kind of hanging around the top 10. And now that I’m trying to actually win the events, or believe that I can, I’m not worried about cut lines. I’m not worried about 35th. I’m just worried about getting my name up there at the top of the leaderboard. Now I’m just focusing on winning. That’s it.”

Here he is saying all of that:

Koepka is playing again this week at the Travelers Championship and next month he’ll travel over to Royal Portrush where he’ll try to win his first Open Championship.

Gotta think he’ll be right there again.
