Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham have hired a lawyer as speculation around their relationship with Brooklyn’s family continues to swirl.
For a little while now, the young couple have been caught up in rumours that they’re currently feuding with Brookyln’s parents, Victoria and David Beckham. Now, they have enlisted British lawyer Jenny Afia from Schillings law firm, E! News has reported.
Despite what some outlets have suggested, a source told E! News that the move isn’t about reputation management. Instead, it’s about making sure the facts are clear and stopping the spread of misinformation.
“It’s not for reputation management, but to set the record straight, combat spread of misinformation,” the insider said.
The same source also made it clear that there’s no connection to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, even though Schillings previously represented them.
“There is absolutely no connection to Meghan and Harry,” the insider said.
“Schillings is a respected firm with a wide range of clients.”
They went on to add, “Ironically, the inaccurate reporting proves exactly why one hires legal counsel, to set the record straight and combat the spread of deliberate misinformation.”
The decision to bring in legal help comes after more details emerged about where the family tension may have started. According to Page Six things reportedly kicked off at Brooklyn and Nicola’s 2022 wedding.
A source told the outlet that Brooklyn and Nicola thought they were going to have their first dance introduced by Marc Anthony, but when the moment came, Marc Anthony instead called Victoria Beckham to the stage, saying, “Please welcome to the stage the most beautiful woman in the room…Victoria Beckham.”
The source said Brooklyn was left in an awkward spot and guests were surprised by the moment. Nicola “[ran] from the room crying”, the source added.
“Nicola felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola.”
Since then, Brooklyn and Nicola have apparently tried to reconnect with his family, but things are still tense. Their absence from David Beckham’s 50th birthday party and the Met Gala earlier this year only added fuel to the rumours.
Even so, Brooklyn and Nicola haven’t publicly spoken about the situation. On Instagram, Brooklyn recently called Nicola “his whole world” and wrote, “I always choose you baby.”
