Brooke Vincent sends fans wild as she returns to Coronation Street - and co-stars tell her to 'come home'

Brooke Vincent has left Coronation Street fans hoping for a return as she paid a visit to the cobbles with her eldest son. The actress is famed for playing Sophie Webster and while she is no longer under contract with the ITV soap, the door has been left open for her character to return after Sophie left in the back of a taxi in October 2019.

Her exit from Weatherfield came ahead of the birth of her first child, Mexx, who was born on October 23 2019 and on May 4 2021 Brooke gave birth to her second son Monroe with her footballer fiance Kean Bryan.

When previously asked about returning to Corrie in August 2021, Brooke said: "I’m just being a mum and getting myself back and trying to get us into a routine and focusing on them. It’s kind of a decision that we made as a family and it’s just nice to have that special time with them without having major distractions of what’s been going on."

Last year, the same question was revisited and when speaking about the possibility of a return to the cobbles, Brooke told Vicky Pattinson on her The Secret To…podcast: "The boys need me at the minute, I haven’t got the commitment in me to say to Corrie 'let me come back'. Corrie was and is very full-on when you’re busy and it makes me laugh because I know everyone has kids, but I’m like: 'I’ve got kids so I can’t come at that time. I’ve got kids.'"

But that didn't mean she couldn't tread the famous street just as a visitor and on Thursday (January 19), Brooke took toddler Mexx with her to the Salford-based set where she got to catch up with her on-screen family and former co-stars. And there was also time for some photo opportunities outside some of the soap's famous landmarks.

Brooke, 30, and Mexx could first be seen posing outside Webster's autocentre which of course belongs to Brooke's on-screen dad, Kevin Webster, played by Mike Le Vell. The pair also paid a visit to the iconic Rovers Return and the mother-and-son were also sweetly seen holding hands as they walked down the cobbles.

And little Mexx got some additional access that not everyone gets to have as he watched Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine recording a scene as Sally and Tim Metcalfe while also getting a glimpse inside wardrobe. "The Most Iconic Street," Brooke started the caption of the string of snaps.

"Today I took Mexx back to Corrie, Last time I was here I was about to give birth to him!! 3 years have past, everything has changed, yet everything is still the same.. I saw old friends and people I literally spent over half my life working with!!! Forever a huge part of me." She then added: "Until next time. We had the best time visiting."

Sally, who plays Brooke's on-screen mum, was quick to comment as she wrote: "Sooo good to see you Brooke. We need you back." Close friend Colson Smith, who plays PC Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, echoed: "Come home then." Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Rovers landlady Jenny Connor, replied: "Alex took good pictures! Gorgeous to see you both x."

Meanwhile, Sally Caraman, who stars as Abi Webster in Corrie, shared how she was upset to have missed them. "I am GUTTED I wasn’t there today!!!!!!" she penned. But Brooke did share how she got to see Joe, who is Sally's real-life husband after the pair tied the knot last year.

And fans were quick to share just how much they wanted Brooke to return to the street - and even had a storyline in mind. @donnalb22 said: "Absolutely LOVE this! Maybe you could go back and Mexx could join, then it really would be chaos at corrie." @curley_kaz_26 echoed: "I think you need to return with a surprise, Mexx."

Your fans miss you!!" @brookebonninshadbolt replied: "Would love to see Sophie Webster return!!" @bernadette_oreilly70 added: "Brilliant photos. Think it might be about time for Sophie to return from her travels."
