Brooke Shields Has This Smart Dog Bed in Multiple Areas Around Her Home – It's Durable, and, Most Importantly, Sleek Enough Not to Hide Away

For many of us, we count our furry friends among members of our household, and as such, they call the shots on decor. Brooke Shields tells us that her dog's furniture priorities typically veer into functional territory.

'My dog would eat the ceiling if she could reach it,' she tells us on a video call from New York City. 'She would eat the walls. She would eat the floor. She's not a puppy, and she just chews everything that's in her vicinity.'

She says it lovingly; the actor and model has channeled her passion for pet wellbeing into her role as chief brand officer at Prospect Pet, which has just launched the Paw Protector balm.

'I heard their story about their vision of being clean and conscious and where it started on a farm in Maine, and I was just sort of taken by how conscious they were of ethically sourcing their materials and really looking at what we were putting into our pets' bodies and on our pets' bodies.'

So, what has her solution to maintaining her home with rambunctious dogs been? It's a practice of trial and error, she tells us.

'I bought her a beautiful bed,' Brooke shares. 'Admittedly, it was fancy. It was not cheap. Literally within 30 minutes,' she ate the whole outside, the bed and the wood, and then I had to sand it down.'

She says there's one particular dog bed she found that is durable: 'The company Kong, they make those kongs that you can fill with kibble and it keeps them interested. They have this Cuddler Bed. I've gotten that and I put it in the kitchen and then other select places.'

With dog proofing all sorted out, Brooke tells us that her approach to holiday decor is natural and timeless.

'I love a real tree,' she shares. 'I love a real garland wrapped up around the staircase. I love natural things, like pinecones. When I was a kid, I used to love the opposite. I had tinsel, and I had multicolored lights. Now, I like cranberries and things that are just really earth-centric for our house. No colored lights, we just have little fairy lights that are white. I just love anything that smells like pine; I love all the senses being incited at the holiday season.'

Clearly, she has devised a scheme that works for both the humans and the pups in the home. We've hand-picked some of her Christmas essentials, as it's not too late to follow her example this year.
