Brooke Shields, 56, appears topless in denim ad 40 years after Calvin Klein pinup shoot

Brooke Shields is back modelling jeans 40 years after she first appeared topless in the iconic Calving Klein ads.

The 56-year-old model says she's honoured to be working with US brand Jordache in there latest campaign showing her appearing in a series of shots - most notably lying on the floor of her walk-in closet trying to tuck her t-shirt into her jeans.

And in the four decades that have past since she became a global pin-up she admits she is truly touched to be part of the promotion.

She told People: "I appreciate it more now,' she said of returning to denim ads for the first time since she was 15. 'It's such an honor to be my age and be represented."

She added: "I feel the magnitude of it more. There's a knowledge that comes with age, and this feels less like a job and more like a privilege.'

Deborah Watson styled Brooke for her latest campaign, where she was snapped by top-flight fashion photographer Cass Bird.

Shields is featured wearing signature Jordache fits including the skinny, flare, and straight and ‘exudes a confidence and ease that only comes with experience and time,’ according to the brand.

But Brooke admits appearing in front of the camera again saw her train hard to get into shape for the shoot knowing she wouldn't be happy unless she gave it her all.

She also boldly made the brand aware of her stance on retouching, noting that it was crucial to her that the photos were authentic.

Brooke told the publication "It was important for you to see this is my 56-year-old body and to fight the retouching. I'm always like: "You better keep it honest." And we did."

In preparation for the shoot, she said: "I worked so hard with my trainer Ngo Okafor. "We did 5 a.m. workouts, but I wasn't drinking so it was easier to wakeup in the morning. I pushed it to the limit. My ego helped! I thought: "If you do these pictures and you are not happy with what you see, you'll be hard on yourself."'

And the brand seems more than impressed by her latest work as Jordache President Liz Berlinger had nothing but praise for the former super model.

She said in a statement: "We are excited to work with Brooke Shields,"

"Like Jodache she is iconic in fashion. We have watched her grow from a young girl into an incredible woman, mother and entrepreneur – throughout it all she has remained authentic and an inspiration to women everywhere."

Of course fans of the actress and model will recall she shot to fame after she famously appeared in a controversial 80s Calvin Klein campaign.

The then-teen famously said: "You want to know what comes in between me and my Calvins? Nothing."

The fashion shoot, directed by Richard Avedon, caused an uproar over perceived sexual innuendo in Shields’ performance. Both ABC and CBS banned the ad.
