Brondby in madcap finish as Rangers Europa League foes spared blushes by late rescue job against winless side

Danish side Brondby had to rely on two late goals to secure a win against a bottom of the league side ahead of their crucial Europa League match against Rangers on Thursday.

Steven Gerrard' s side will host the Danes at Ibrox on Thursday with both teams yet to notch a victory in their respective European campaigns.

Brondby had to come from behind to win 3-2 against Vejle at home on Sunday, which now leaves them sitting sixth in the Danish Superliga.

The Danes had to rely on two late goals from Mikael Uhre and Christian Cappis to secure the three points, which is only their third win of the season.

Meanwhile Rangers head into the Europa League clash top of the Scottish Premiership, despite conceding a late leveller in a 1-1 draw at Ibrox against Hearts on Saturday.

With second place Sparta hosting leaders Lyon at home, the match at Ibrox is massive for both teams at the wrong end of Group A.

Brondby skipper Andreas Maxso says the away game will have the feel of a two cup finals on Thursday.

He told the Mail on Sunday: "We go to Glasgow to win of course but if we are not able to do that then we will take the draw.

"If we can get one point in Scotland, it will be a nice result for us and then everything can happen back here in Denmark. We are comfortable when we play at Brondby Stadium.

"It's two cup finals and I think it will be two exciting games with a lot of intensity."
