Broncos WR Tim Patrick injured hand against Raiders

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick injured his left hand during a 24-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders on “Monday Night Football” in Week 1. After the game, Patrick was seen wearing a hard cast on his hand, according to The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala.

That’s not a good sign for the receiver as a hard cast could mean a serious injury. If Patrick has to miss significant time with a hand injury, Denver may consider placing him on injured reserve.

Patrick (6-4, 212 pounds) entered the league as a college free agent out of Utah with the Baltimore Ravens in 2017. After being cut by Baltimore that offseason, he spent time with the San Francisco 49ers but failed to make their 53-man roster.

Mid-way through his rookie season, Patrick signed with the Broncos’ practice squad. He made the 53-man roster last summer and emerged as a rotational receiver last season, catching 23 passes for 315 yards and a touchdown.

If Patrick misses time with an injury, Denver will be down to Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton, Juwann Winfree and Diontae Spencer at wide receiver.
