Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders wants to be more involved but he’s a team player first

The Broncos beat the Chargers 20-13 on Sunday but wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders caught just one pass for nine yards in the win.

“Obviously, I want to be involved,” Sanders said Tuesday. “I’m a competitor. I work hard during the week, but sometimes it just doesn’t go my way. I’m just going to keep chugging along.”

Sanders wants the ball more often but he’s not going to cause any problems, especially if Denver is winning. He’s a team player first.

“There’s different things that come up throughout the course of a game and sometimes you can’t control the flow of it,” quarterback Joe Flacco said Wednesday. “To Emmanuel’s credit, if you watch the way he went out there and blocked in the run game and set some of our guys for even bigger plays than they would have been, it’s pretty impressive.

“You never know quite the way the game is going to go, and it was one of those game where really none of our guys probably had a ton of touches or a ton of chances. It’s just the way it goes sometimes.”

The Broncos got their first win of the season in Week 5 but are still in a big hole at 1-4. Sanders would like more targets going forward but his chief concern is winning games.

“I’m worried about that next [win], trying to get us to two and try to get us to three,” the receiver said. “That’s where my mind is.”
