Broncos won’t receive any 2019 compensatory NFL draft picks

The Denver Broncos will not receive any compensatory selections for the 2019 NFL draft. Here are the compensatory picks that will be awarded to teams this year, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

Teams are awarded compensatory selections when they lose free agents with more value than the free agents they gain. The league determined that Denver’s 2018 departures did not outweigh the team’s new additions.

Last year, the Broncos were awarded a third-round compensatory selection. That selection was believed to be awarded because the team lost offensive tackle Russell Okung during free agency the previous year.

Two years ago, Denver received four compensatory selections, likely for losing players including defensive lineman Malik Jackson, linebacker Danny Trevathan and quarterback Brock Osweiler.

If the Broncos allow center Matt Paradis to leave during free agency this year, the team may receive a compensatory selection for him in 2020. Denver currently has eight selections in this year’s NFL draft.
