The Philadelphia Eagles are re-signing left tackle Jason Peters, multiple outlets reported Tuesday (via Eagles Wire).
Peters (6-4, 328 pounds) is a 28-year-old tackle who entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas with the Buffalo Bills in 2004. After spending the first five years of his career in Buffalo, Peters was traded to Philadelphia in 2009.
Peters has had a decorated career, earning nine Pro Bowl nods, two first-team All-Pro selections and four second-team All-Pro nods. He is a member of the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade Team and he helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LII in 2017 (Peters wasn’t healthy for the Super Bowl but he was a key member of the team before suffering an injury).
Peters was healthy for 13 games last season. In those contests, he was penalized nine times and allowed three sacks, according to STATS LLC. In his career, Peters has averaged 0.478 penalties per contest and 0.29 sacks allowed per game.
After the Denver Broncos did not select an offensive tackle in the NFL draft, there was speculation that the team might sign a veteran like Peters. Denver instead appears content to have Garett Bolles and Elijah Wilkinson compete for the starting left tackle job at training camp.
