Broncos will take a look at Justin Hollins at outside linebacker and inside linebacker

The Denver Broncos did not select a true inside linebacker in this year’s NFL draft but they did land Oregon’s Justin Hollins. Though he played primarily as an outside linebacker in college, Hollins (6-5, 248 pounds) has spent some time at inside linebacker.

The Broncos will take a look at him at both positions this offseason.

“I like his versatility,” Broncos coach Vic Fangio said during the team’s post-draft press conference. “He’s played primarily outside linebacker, but he has played a little bit of inside linebacker, particularly in one of the all-star games. We’re going to try him at both spots while he’s here and see where he’s got the best future at or the best fit for us at this time.”

Hollins was a playmaker for the Ducks, recording 64 tackles (including 14.5 tackles for losses), 6.5 sacks and one interception as a senior. He also broke up six passes, recovered a fumble and forced five fumbles in 2018.

He’s willing to do whatever it takes to get on the field in Denver.

“I’m going to play anywhere they need me,” Hollins said during a conference call with reporters on Saturday. “I’m one of those guys who is just going to get in and play where ever I am needed, whether that is special teams, inside, outside — it doesn’t matter. I am here to compete. I am here to play as hard as I can and provide the team with some type of impact.”

With that kind of mentality, Hollins should have no trouble making the team’s 53-man roster this summer.
