Broncos will not attempt to re-sign Domata Peko, a potential free agent target for Cardinals

The defensive coaching staff for the Arizona Cardinals is filled with assistants who have worked with defensive coordinator Vance Joseph before. The team has already signed one player (outside linebacker Brooks Reed) with experience in the defensive system he will run.

Reed will not likely be the only player the Cardinals target with experience in Joseph’s system.

Nose tackle Domata Peko, who played for the Denver Broncos both seasons Joseph was head coach there, will be a free agent and Denver will not attempt to re-sign him, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis in Denver.

Returning to a 3-4 defense, the Cardinals need to add bodies on the defensive line. Peko would make a perfect fit for the middle of the defensive line.

He is big and physical at 6-3, 325. He knows the system. At 34 years old, he has been durable, missing only two games in the last nine season, and he likely would not cost much.

If Denver doesn’t want him back, there might not be much competition for him, and he likely would be willing to play for Joseph again.
