Broncos will host TE Josh Oliver on pre-draft visit

The Denver Broncos will host San Jose State tight end Josh Oliver on a pre-draft visit, according to The Athletic’s Matt Barrows. The Broncos also met with Oliver at the NFL combine earlier this offseason.

Oliver (6-5, 249 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 22 times at the combine. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Oliver to Vance McDonald, who was a second-round pick in 2013.

During his final two years with the Spartans, Oliver hauled in 91 receptions for 1,005 yards and five touchdowns. Despite his impressive numbers, Oliver is not among the top-15 tight ends in this year’s class, according to Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling (view the complete rankings here).

“He is comfortable with a man on his hip to win contested balls, but is just as effective catching in stride with good hand-eye coordination and sticky hands,” Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez wrote of Oliver in January. “His play speed includes multiples gears, quickly entering his route and finishing with burst.”

The Broncos will likely select at least one tight end in April’s draft.
