Broncos will host QB Dwayne Haskins on pre-draft visit

The Denver Broncos will host Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins on a pre-draft visit “in the coming days,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Broncos scouts watched Haskins in person at Ohio State’s pro day on Wednesday.

Haskins and Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray are widely considered to be the two best QBs in this year’s class but neither of them are expected to still be on the board when the Broncos go on the clock with the 10th overall pick in April’s draft.

Haskins (6-3, 231 pounds) is a traditional pocket passer who ran the 40-yard dash in 5.04 seconds and posted a 28.5-inch vertical jump at the NFL combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Haskins to former quarterback Drew Bledsoe, who was a first-round pick in the 1993 NFL draft.

Haskins was a one-year starter at Ohio State, completing 70.0 percent of his passes for 4,831 yards with 50 touchdown passes against eight interceptions in 2018.

“Haskins looks like a solid starter in a West Coast system relying on a clean pocket and rhythmic throws,” Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez wrote of the QB last month. “He will win with his short-intermediate accuracy, processing and awareness from within the pocket.”

While it seems unlikely that Haskins will fall to pick No. 10 in the draft, the Broncos are wise to do their due diligence in case he does fall. Denver may also consider trading up for Haskins.
