Broncos will have 2nd-hardest strength of schedule in 2019

New Broncos coach Vic Fangio and soon-to-be-acquired quarterback Joe Flacco will face a tough schedule in 2019.

The team’s 2019 opponents posted combined records of 136-117-3 last year, a win percentage of .537. According to CBS Sports, that’s the second-hardest strength of schedule for 2019, trailing only the Oakland Raiders (.539).

Elsewhere in the division, the Kansas City Chiefs are tied with the Chicago Bears with the fifth-hardest strength of schedule (.520) and the Los Angeles Chargers have the 16th-hardest strength of schedule (.502).

Based on those numbers, 2019 could be a tough year for the AFC West, with the Chargers having the easiest path to a division crown.

Then again, strength of schedule numbers don’t mean much because they are based on the previous season. NFL teams change so much during the offseason that it makes it hard to predict future records.

Last year, the Broncos faced the fourth-easiest strength of schedule (.477) and ended up with a 6-10 record.

We already know what teams Denver will face this year but the official schedule won’t be announced until April.
