Broncos waive OLB Jeff Holland

The Denver Broncos have waived outside linebacker Jeff Holland, the team announced Sunday.

Holland (6-2, 249 pounds) signed with the Broncos as a college free agent out of Auburn following the 2018 NFL draft. He spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad before being promoted to the active roster in late November.

Holland dressed for three games last year, totaling six tackles. He had a shot to make the 53-man roster this summer as a rotational pass rusher but was unable to beat out the other young OLBs on the roster.

Malik Reed, an undrafted rookie out of Nevada, seemingly made Holland expendable. Reed has totaled eight tackles and two sacks through two preseason games and he appears to be the favorite to serve as the backup pass rusher behind Von Miller and Bradley Chubb in 2019.

Holland will now be subject to the NFL’s waiver wire. If nobody claims him, Holland will become a free agent.
