Broncos’ updated safety depth chart without Darian Stewart

After moving on from veteran safety Darian Stewart, the Denver Broncos are poised to have a revamped secondary this season. Here’s a look at the team’s current safety depth chart:

Free safety:

Justin Simmons
Su’a Cravens
Dymonte Thomas

Strong safety:

Will Parks
Trey Marshall

Believe it or not, that’s not a bad group of safeties. It’s unclear if new coach Vic Fangio views Cravens as a part of the team’s future plans, though. It’s also unclear if the team views Parks as a potential full-time starter.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Broncos take a look at safeties when the free agency negotiating period begins Monday. This year’s free agent class of safeties includes Earl Thomas, Adrian Amos, Tyrann Mathieu, Landon Collins, Eric Weddle, LaMarcus Joyner and Glover Quin.

Denver will have plenty of options to choose from, which could help in negotiations. With many safeties available, Broncos general manager John Elway won’t feel pressured to go all in on one option.
