Broncos trade up to select WR Juwann Winfree in NFL draft

With the 187th pick in the 2019 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos selected Colorado wide receiver Juwann Winfree in the sixth round on Saturday afternoon.

Denver traded their final two picks in the draft (No. 212 in the sixth round and No. 237 in the seventh round) to the Carolina Panthers in order to trade up to select Winfree.

Winfree (6-3, 215 pounds) spent one season at Maryland and two seasons at Colorado. During his time with the Buffaloes, Winfree hauled in 49 receptions for 649 yards and four touchdowns.

Winfree certainly isn’t a lock to make the team’s 53-man roster but he’ll get to compete for a job this summer.

Winfree is the sixth and final player the Broncos have drafted this year, joining tight end Noah Fant, offensive lineman Dalton Risner quarterback Drew Lock, defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones and linebacker Justin Hollins.

The team also swapped late-round picks with the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, landing linebacker Dakota Watson as part of the trade. Denver now has no more selections remaining in the NFL draft.
