Broncos to sign DB Kareem Jackson to 3-year contract

The Denver Broncos plan to sign defensive back Kareem Jackson to a three-year contract, KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis first reported Monday. The news has since been confirmed by multiple media outlets.

Jackson’s contract with the Broncos will not become official until the new league year begins on Wednesday, March 13.

The contract is worth $33 million and includes $23 million in fully guaranteed money, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Jackson (5-10, 185 pounds) is a 30-year-old defensive back that entered the league as a first-round pick out of Alabama with the Houston Texans in 2010. He spent the first nine years of his career with the Texans before hitting free agency this offseason.

Jackson can play as a safety or as a cornerback. He may have a bit of a hybrid role in Denver’s defense, playing as a nickel cornerback and safety depending on the situation.

Jackson has recorded 559 tackles, 16 interceptions and two sacks in his career. He is entering his 10th season.
