Broncos to sign CB Davontae Harris

After placing quarterback Drew Lock (thumb), tight end Jake Butt (knee) and running back Theo Roddick (shoulder) on injured reserve and signing linebacker Corey Nelson, the Broncos will have two open spots on the 53-man roster.

One of those roster spots will go to cornerback Davontae Harris, ESPN’s Davontae Harris first reported Sunday. Harris will fly to Denver this evening and sign tomorrow, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Harris confirmed the news on his Twitter page.

Harris (5-11, 200 pounds) was selected by the Bengals in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft out of Illinois State. After spending most of his rookie season on injured reserve with a knee injury, Harris competed for a spot on Cincinnati’s 53-man roster this summer.

The Bengals waived Harris on Saturday. He went unclaimed on waivers on Sunday and is expected to sign with the Broncos on Monday. He will join a cornerback room that includes Chris Harris, Bryce Callahan, De’Vante Bausby, Isaac Yiadom and Duke Dawson.

Denver still has one open spot on the 53-man roster.
