Broncos throw support behind U.S. Soccer team at Women’s World Cup

Before the United State’s women’s national soccer team faced Thailand in the Women’s World Cup in France on Tuesday, the Broncos tweeted a message of support to the squad.

Thailand was clearly overmatched as the USWNT won the contest 13-0, marking the largest margin of victory in Women’s World Cup history. U.S. Soccer is aiming to win back-to-back Women’s World Cups this summer after previously winning the tournament in 2015.

The Women’s World Cup is taking place in France but the Broncos will be part of another soccer tournament in the United States this summer.

Denver will host a Gold Cup doubleheader at Broncos Stadium at Mile High on June 19. The team’s stadium will host a match between Mexico and Canada and a showdown between Martinique and Cuba.

Broncos Stadium at Mile High may also be a candidate to host future USWNT friendlies after the Women’s World Cup. The team’s stadium is also a candidate to host matches in the 2026 World Cup.

Up next for the USWNT is a match against Chile on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. MT. The game will be nationally televised on FOX.
